The archeologist Professor Piers Olsen (Michael Dickson) joins the six-men team to help the digging. But soon, weird things happen in the outpost: the local workers leave the site; they lose communication with the base; one team member goes haywire; the rest become stressed, without sleeping, hearing voices and seeing strange things. What is happening on the site? “Black Mountain Side” (2014) is a Canadian film with an ambiguous story. The plot has an intriguing beginning but, unfortunately, the pace is too slow, maybe with the intention to increase the tension, but the result is a boring movie. My vote is four. Keeps you in suspense really well, doesn't rely on gore, the ending is delightfully ambiguous. No it's not The Thing but I mean if that's your main complaint just.... watch The Thing, man? What looks like a lot like, 'The Thing', sinks in to a slow drudge of a film, a couple of decent ideas and a few ill-timed jokes, the zombie performances needed a lot more love. SPOILER ALERT Researchers are contaminated by some sort of virus or bacteria from an ancient site under the ice, they individually start to go mad with some patterns present to all of them. There really isn't any other premise except for what you make of it, and although the plot does bring some extra bits of information about whats going on, it is never enough to make a clear picture.
