Seventeen-year-old Tanya Crandell (Simone Joy Jones) can't wait to spend the summer living it up with her friends in Spain before heading to Howard University in the fall. But when her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings instead. Following the unexpected death of their elderly babysitter (June Squibb), Tanya gets a job working for the confident and ambitious Rose (Nicole Richie). Juggling work, family, and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer of freedom.

Surprisingly authentic and fun for remake material, which is naturally formulaic. It’s the focus on character work that lets this one sing, and it should make a star out of Jones, who, like her character, manages to hold it all together.

A mostly forgettable movie about a relatively charming family unit. It really is too bad that it is hampered by odes to the original, a convoluted plot, and at least one actor who has been woefully miscast. Please, no more. The dishes are done, man

A straight to streaming remake of the 1991 cult comedy Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead could have gone seriously wrong. The fact is that original movie was supposed to be a transition vehicle for Christina Applegate. Honestly it was so-so, it had it's moments but overall it was ok. The remake is genuinely surprisingly better updating the storyline with a modern take for the new generation. They give the black kids their own personalities, though at times it felt like they were caricatures for example the second oldest sibling smokes weed and does youtube videos all day until the film needs him to clean himself up. Still that is the main criticism the characters feel like caricatures, there are no real lessons learned of consequences at the end of the day it's quite a happy ending. Overall I was never bored and it did have laugh out loud moments so definitely worth a watch if you've never seen the original.

Total Garbage!! Do we have to black wash classic movies now? Couldn't even finish watching it. The storyline was lame and was filled with unnecessary racism. Then don't get me started on how a single African American mother can afford a mansion.
