Best friends Félicie and Victor hatch a plan to escape from their rural orphanage in 19th-century France. Félicie dreams of becoming a ballerina, while Victor wants to use his brainpower to invent things. After busting out, Félicie makes her way to the Paris Opera where she joins a class of highly trained dancers who are auditioning for the lead in a production of "The Nutcracker."

It had some good heart in it but it lacks depth of other movies in its genre like Ratatouille. The dialogue is very stilted and the actors are sometimes unconvincing in line delivery. Animation is fine Plot criticism: There should have been more focus on Victor and Felice as characters before the main plot. When the antagonist asks her who is she in the movie...I genuinely sided with her. I have no idea who Felice was before learning to dance. They didn't answer the question of why she dances because there isn't any. The side characters needed to be fleshed out more. I just finished the movie and I cannot remember the side characters names for the life of me. The villian is functionally the worst part. The daughter suddenly gets a redemption arc out of nowhere with no build up and they don't even focus on the actual villainous evil mother. It might seem like I didn't like the movie but I actually had fun. Definitely that kinda movie that you show to your kids and don't watch yourself

5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the most ballet movie animation I ever seen! This is teaching us about ballet, learn from your mistakes, intergrity, discipline,confidence. Fact: Do u know that Maddie zigler was in dance mom show and did ballet,hip hop,jazz, and lyrical.

Kids like it, but it's full of wrong messages: - it's OK to steal and defraud - main character is surrounded by simps etc. - it's OK as a 10 yo kid to F of and do your thing Other than that it's pretty vapid.
