R B @RT04347138 1d If only to support Si B's hypothesis that Mad Dogs is a love-it or hate-it film, I'm willing to award 5 stars and thereby keep the poles in balance. In fact, within the film itself, there are things to love and hate. Elements of the direction are inspired, but some scenes are too stagey. The dialogue can be funny - as when the Supreme Being tries to explain things and resorts to "It's all in my book" - or moving and poignant - particularly in the Prophet's stage act - but it can also be overly flowery or hysterical. Ideas and imagination are plentiful and range from superb to silly. Who can resist a phantom tube station or a British totalitarian state based on the disappearance of diseased dogs - but manufacturing a cosmos-killing compound in Utah? The film's roots must surely have grown from dust on the shelves of an 80s video shop and have sprouted a strange orchid of satirical B-movie sci-fi with jokes and subtexts. Or perhaps it's just rubbish. You'll have to decide for yourself. See more Steven W @RT55319777 Sep 6 I came across this in Netflix and felt an instant sinking feeling in my stomach. The 1 and a half hours of this movie is time you will never get back. It's a very bad movie, I would advise you for your own mental health, NOT TO WATCH IT. See more Si B @RT53430597 12/20/2024 This is, unquestionably, the weirdest film I've ever seen. The writing is both brilliant (some of the most eloquently put phases I've ever heard in film) and utterly bonkers. I have so many unanswered questions. You'll either love it or hate it - but I suspect that being British is probably beneficial on the "love" front, it's a certain form of humour that probably won't translate that well to other countries. I'd recommend entering with an open mind and possibly a few drinks ... Good luck. See more don s @RT97868663 07/03/2011 Rubbish. No plot, bad acting, no character development; even the title had nothing to do with the story. Complete waste of time. The only good thing about this film is Indira Varma. She has some acting talent and is attractive. See more Read all reviews
