"Outcome" is a dark comedy that centers on Reef Hawk (Keanu Reeves), a beloved Hollywood star who must dive into the depths of his hidden demons after he is extorted with a mysterious video that's sure to shatter his image and end his career. With the support of his lifelong besties Kyle (Cameron Diaz) and Xander (Matt Bomer), along with his crisis lawyer Ira (Jonah Hill), Reef embarks on a soul-searching journey to make amends with anyone he could have possibly wronged in hopes of identifying the blackmailer. Co-writer and director Hill brings a unique lens to Reef's wild but spiritually cleansing, nostalgic and eye-opening trip down memory lane, where confronting his past might be the only way to rescue his future.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Outcome collapses under its own ambitions, playing as a garish, tonally erratic and heavy-handed satire that fumbles its intriguing ideas about stardom in an overlong and largely unfunny jumble of wasted talent.

With Hill as Reef’s abrasive lawyer, the film veers between crude and cuddly. Watch it for Reeves’ heartfelt reaction shots and Martin Scorsese’s small but perfectly played role. Go to Full Review

It’s hard to imagine this mumbling, shambling man holding multiplex masses in his thrall. As such, he’s a poignant void, but a void nonetheless, and even at a slim 84 minutes, Hill’s doleful film can’t keep us interested in his plight. Go to Full Review

The screenplay bounces between satire and solemn introspection, including a genuinely great scene with Martin Scorsese, but it writes its main character as a blank forced to listen to who he is rather than showing any signs of it with the miscast Reeves. Go to Full Review

Chirag P. @trini 10h Would like to see Keanu in more dramatic roles but this wasn’t it, not much here. See more Andrei D @RT74856639 17h It has the actor, it has the idea, but it does not have any way of making something coherent out of them See more Nikolay D @happybanana332211 23h it is just bad movie See more Jeff S. @Whyisthat 1d Jonah Hill ruined the whole movie. It’s a good set up but who tf let him cast himself he deserves to have the money that will be lost. It’s not 2003. Jonah was an embarrassment as usual. Go Susan! Go Keanu! Eff off Jonah and get away from the camera. Can’t name a single person who enjoys him onscreen. See more DontWasteYourTime T @RT67825448 2d It’s a decent idea, but poorly executed. I didn’t care. I care about addiction stories. I think it’s interesting to make the themes about the people in the main characters life not the protagonist themselves. But there wasn’t enough emotion or action and it wasn’t funny enough to offset that. 👎 See more P S @Paige67 2d It almost seemed like a movie about Keanu Reeves. But there was so much fake, insider crap. Jonah Hills character was the most cringe. Made me want to turn it off. It’s not very good. Lots of talent wasted in this movie. See more Read all reviews
