Devoid of chills, thrills, or even cheap titillation, The Roommate isn't even bad enough to be good.

A disappointing re-tread of Single White Female that pulls its narrative punches and wastes its talented "teen" cast. Leighton Meester deserved better; let her cut loose! Go to Full Review

The movie was made for tame crowds out for safe chills and a predictable outcome, and that level of banality is exactly what’s delivered. Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom 1d The Roommate (2011) is a textbook example of a thriller that completely misses the mark. Instead of building real suspense or tension, it relies on tired clichés and predictable plot turns that you see coming almost immediately. What should have been a psychological thriller ends up feeling flat, uninspired, and unintentionally funny in all the wrong places. The characters are poorly developed and make questionable decisions that constantly pull you out of the story. Even the supposed "dangerous" moments feel staged and lacking any real stakes. There’s no real buildup, no meaningful payoff—just a repetitive cycle of weak drama and shallow conflict. The performances don’t do much to elevate the material either, stuck in a script that never gives them anything compelling to work with. Overall, it feels like a wasted concept that never had a clear direction. Easily a 0/10. See more Jose R. @aljjandro 2d I don’t understand why I couldn’t find any comments about the obvious LGBT agenda that Netflix seems to be trying to promote in its movies. Haven’t they learned anything from Disney? Why does every movie have to be about gay people? I don’t have anything against it, but I feel like I see it in every Netflix movie... Bad acting and agenda-based movie. See more Brianna R @RT65344707 Apr 14 Who approved this?! Never done a review before, but I felt like it was needed. The acting and dialogue are HORRIBLE in this movie. It's disappointing because they used a beautiful location, but it was SO boring. See more Nicolas G @RT32747220 Mar 21 Jason Tanner (Matt Lanter): Es el exnovio de Reebecca. Aunque no es un villano en el sentido criminal, se presenta como una figura persistente y molesta que no respeta los límites de Rebecca, convirtiéndose en una de las víctimas de Sara cuando esta decide eliminar cualquier distracción del pasado de su amiga. See more nicolas T @3202556767 Dec 6 Rebecca is starting her freshman year at college at the opening of the movie; and as she checks into her hostel room, she was happy to learn that she was early, and her roommate had not checked in yet; which meant that she gets to choose the side of her bed. She joins her other new friends; Tracy and the girls to a party where she meets a cute drummer, Stephen. When she reaches her room late that night, she was ready to tuck into sleep until she saw her roommate, Sara, who appeared to be waiting for her. Rebecca went to the bathroom to refresh herself and was surprised to find her roommate asleep when she was back. Thinking nothing of it, she went to bed. See more Tsk T @RT34105038 Sep 12 The movie has a very predictable plot. But you know, sometimes basic stories are executed so well that we end up praising the movie. But the execution of this movie is so bad. I kept on hoping for some depth and intensity throughout. The 1.5 stars goes to the actors because they did a pretty good job. I cant even think of recommending this movie to anyone. So dont waste your time and search for some other good movie. See more Read all reviews
