Kevin V @kebebos Jul 26 A well cast movie that seems like it might be going somewhere but never gets anywhere. All of the really good actors are wasted in this flick because most motivations are sketchy at best, lost on a sea of pointless imagery and unfocused intentions. I get that Theresa is guilty and haunted about her mother but a 50 minute take of Dunst staring into the camera with no expression would be a lot more interesting than the last 50 minutes of this movie. It's almost like the director had no script and wandered around a small wooded town with a camera shooting the first thing that came to mind: "OK, I've got an idea. Let's do this." or "Kirsten, wander around for a while looking introspective." or "Kirsten, look up from the jars and stare into space for awhile". "Oh! Oh! I've got it! Kirsten, walk on this big log and look really sad, OK?" Sheeeesh. That is the movie's main selling point. Complete lack of character development makes you unable to care for the well being of anyone pictured, except for the main character- who you mainly want to die so you don't have to watch the movie any longer. Also I thought Kirsten Dunst was a little old for this film. If they got a younger actress the lack of emotional maturity and depth of the character could have been more believable, and the outcome more devastating, possibly. I feel like the people who made this movie are nostalgic for older movies with Kirsten Dunst in them, and for the period(s) from the music they chose for the soundtrack, but mashing these things into this storyline they picked (or wrote?) simply did not work. Who wants to watch a movie where the person does a drug that makes them look totally depressed and they keep on doing it and getting more depressed.
