Everything feels heavy, raw, and atmospheric from the stormy moors to the shadowy interiors. It’s not polished or romanticised, it’s gritty and intense in a way that feels more real. The costumes are a textured, worn, and grounded in the environment rather than decorative. They reflect the characters perfectly, especially Heathcliff’s roughness and Catherine’s shift between control and chaos. What I liked most is the relationship. It’s not soft romance it’s obsessive, uncomfortable, and kind of electric. The darker, more sensual moments feel tense rather than overdone, which adds to the overall mood. Arnold's austere style would have been prefect for Heathcliff's drawn out revenge and descent into madness. I was disappointed as they cut off half of the book in this film and in my opinion it made the film feel sloppy and rushed.
