This double measure of heart-warming whimsy is too watered down to have much of a kick. Go to Full Review

Cox is unable to manufacture actual tension and so captures only a flatlining milieu where nothing of any dramatic value happens. Go to Full Review

It is solidly, soppy, sentimental fare. Go to Full Review

Scotland looks magnificent, but then it always does. One to have on in the background of a winter’s evening while you mix up a hot toddy. Go to Full Review

Created by David Ashton and co-written with Jeff Murphy, it never gets under the skin of the story and there seems little depth to any character. Most are walking Scottish cliches, which, in 2026, feels excruciating. Go to Full Review

Cox and Henderson do their substantial best with the lacklustre material, but Cumming forgets to act his emotions, opting to semaphore them instead. His woefully hammy performance sums up the entire picture. Go to Full Review

Nigel W @Maigemu 1d This is a Hallmark-style film which only lacks the flower shop/bakery and a bit of snow sprayed on to summer foliage to complete the scene. To say that the plot and dialogue are clichéd to the point of rigormortice is to understate the shear boredom of the movie. Two brothers from a wealthy but mildly disfunctional family have a falling out at a funeral. One moves to the USA where he runs a Jazz club in Chicago and sings in his own band though regrettably without adequate lipsync. The other brother stays at home in a palatial house running the family distillery(as you do). For reasons which I’ll let you guess the USA brother returns to Scotland. Cue vistas of mountains etc. The brothers still don’t get on- surprise. But the errant brother happens upon the local pub where a traditional Scottish band is playing and he can show us his non-lypsync skills again. Some irrelevant things happen. There is a bit of a party Eventually they all live happily ever after. Dire See more Susan R @RT63327787 2d This is a wonderfully understated tale of two Scottish brothers. It is so true to the Scottish culture - not needing big dramatic speeches by either character to tell the audience how the reunion is progressing. Watching it in a Scottish cinema the audience loved the subtle humour and certainly the emotional crescendo hit the spot with myself, a usually fairly practical viewer. Well worth watching if you want an authentic story set in modern Scotland. See more Matt J @RT41977268 2d The first film in quite a while that we've walked out of within the first 30 minutes. Utter garbage, genuinely embarrassed for the cast and anyone associated with it. See more Craig H @RT84395768 2d I really cannot understand why so many dislike this movie. I loved the gentle pace and the subtle humour. It was a gentle tale about the difficulties between siblings and the struggle between duty and personal freedom. Everything else on the big screen nowadays seems to be a remake or CGI generated. This was an unusual story set in the gloriously beautiful landscape of Scotland See more David T @DavidTucker 3d It is hugely annoying that, with the incredibly high level of talent involved in this, that they still moved forward with a script like this. 97 minutes of my life I will never get back. See more Jim A @Jimabeau 3d I'm Scottish. My toes curled so much I had to kick my shoes off. The best argument against nationalism I can think of! I love Coxy and Cumming but, lads, no.
