What to Know

Critics Consensus

A startlingly assured feature debut from director Kane Parsons, Backrooms bends the liminal spaces that have haunted the internet for years into a horror film that's as mesmerizing as it is terrifying.

Powered by a magnetic cast, Backrooms may oscillate between atmospheric allure and oneiric disorientation, but Kanepixels’ spell remains undeniable.

The Backrooms part of Backrooms is great, well-rendered, and incredibly unsettling. Though the story supporting the film could use a little work, the production is overall an achievement. Go to Full Review

The movie’s grip holds, even past the point where it’s clear no traditional explanation is coming to save the characters or us. Go to Full Review

In all, this is a deliciously unnerving and accomplished film from a very young filmmaker. Go to Full Review

DJS 2h That movie did not make sense, especially the ending! See more Alexis M 2h The pacing of this movie was incredibly slow and the story was lackluster for something based around a game with so much to work with. My friends and I were fighting back our sleep the majority of the movie and the moments that seemed like they were getting interesting did not have any payoff. I am still giving it one star because the acting was not horrible, but the writing and implementation of the motifs were okay but did not satisfy my brain. Would not recommend this movie at all. See more sricharan s 4h What a waste of time and money. What was even the point of the movie? There was no beginning or end, just people going from 1 room to another chased by an unknown entity. Don’t waste your time or money on this. See more Schill-Bot_85 5h Human. Consistent. Thrilling. Production design would win an oscar if they weren't about marketing over merit. Ejiofor slays as usual. Restrained horror, unbounded scifi. It only gets better. See more Phillip 5h Very interesting movie. The trailers don't really sell what this movie is. I liked it. Not really horror, more of an eerie thriller that makes you think. See more James 6h Will never get those 2 hours back from that psychedelic drug horror trip, and monster is an 8 ft african american pirate puppet that eats people???? Horrible Go see something else!! Nonsense When are good movies going to come out!! Maybe Pressure will save the summer !! Please give us another F1 , all else crap! See more Read all reviews
