What happens when you wake up the morning after leaving the most important rock band of all time? In April 1970, Paul released his first solo album, McCartney, alongside a shocking press release that announced the beloved band had split. When asked what he'd do next, he said his only plan... was to grow up. Man on the Run captures Paul's transformative decade in the wake of The Beatles' break-up. Through stunning archival footage, Linda McCartney's exceptional photographs, and interviews with Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon, Mary and Stella McCartney, all the living Wings members, and of course Paul himself, the film examines this time through a uniquely vulnerable lens.

Honestly, even if the merest waft of bagpipe on ‘Mull of Kintyre’ brings you out in hives, Man on the Run is still full of treasures. Go to Full Review

You may find yourself wondering why we are going over this ground again, but it's an engaging film, and there is always something mesmeric in McCartney's face: cherubic, and yet sharp and watchful. Go to Full Review

Man on the Run is a comprehensive but not groundbreaking documentary about Paul McCartney's life and career from 1970 to 1981. Knowledgeable fans of McCartney won't learn anything new, but the movie is a crowd-pleasing delight. Go to Full Review

Using Paul McCartney's narration and his home video from his wife, Linda, MAN ON THE RUN gives us insights into the artistic process after you've already reached the mountaintop. Go to Full Review

jmarti03261 @JMarti03261 19h (Part 1) I went to see MOTR on opening night was truly a love story between Paul and Linda and I would also say a brotherhood story between Paul and John Lennon. The way that the director Morgan Neville constructed the environment and foundation to place Paul McCartney within the structure of this documentary allowed and maybe almost forced him to accept some realties of his life for all of us to see. This documentary is more of a life’s story of what happens when major life altering events happens, over his life and how Paul continued to work through them and eventually grows up to be the artist we now have. See more Isabel L @Isabel.Lauder 1d It was a wonderful night watching it in theatres, it seemed like there was a lot of moments where the film encouraged out loud participation, but our crowd really didn’t… it would’ve been amazing to fully let loose fully submerse our selves in the experience I was hoping to have!! But the film was deep in parts, Paul had a lot of mental battles, they scrapped the surface on their personal lives which easily the film could’ve dived deeper, that would have made the film so interesting. The film felt incomplete, without addressing Linda’s death, but instead addressed John’s felt unfinished. We stayed around for the interview and it felt really awkward to watch, they weren’t connecting on the same level at all the two of them. But I have to rate it 5/5 because I love Paul, and he was and is always so amazing and talented! Loved seeing his MAD side- his ‘fuck you’ side- lol. But I wish there was more backstory on his songs and why he wrote them. I wanted a deeper dive, I guess. See more Linda B @Linda773 1d Man on the Run was not--in my inexpert opinion--good but hey, it's Paul and there's live footage of Linda, which earns it some brownie points. I'm definitely part of the target audience but feel that the best words for this movie are lazy, shallow, and boring. Even with all the video enhancement programs available--AI and not--the creators did nothing to enhance the quality of the historical videos so they were all pixelated and blurry. The film didn't get into all that much depth aside from showing the "Heart of the Country" side of Paul and Linda, which I enjoyed. I expected more, much more, and was very disappointed. See more John F. @smokinjohnnie 1d Just saw the Sir Paul McCartney movie Man on the Run on 2/19/26 and it was very powerful. Paul’s genius and vulnerabilities were on full display. Linda’s love and John’s love for Paul and Paul’s love for both of them was deep and beautiful. No one left the theater when it was over. We applauded, watched the full ending and hung around. It was a bit overwhelming for me, but enormously satisfying. Bravo, Sir Paul!👏👏💕 #PaulMccartney #ManontheRun #maybeimamazed #Premiere #Beatles See more Phil C @Moviefan1965 1d Enjoyable overview of the first part of Paul's solo years. Highlights the struggles and triumphs of the era. Quite a few laughs and some really moving moments. Enough rare and never seen tidbits to keep hardcore fans interested. See more Mary A @Pixie218 2d With all the material out there about the Beatles and Sir Paul individually, I wasn’t sure what was left to tell. The footage and storytelling in this film revealed the struggle to cope with the ending of the most significant band in rock history. It gave insight into the vulnerability and fear that Paul experienced and yet had an upbeat and optimistic feel all the way through. SPOILER ALERT: I found it fascinating that he formed Wings and put the band through the same process towards success that the Beatles experienced even though he could have called on industry favors to bypass touring in a minivan! The footage was fresh and the story was captivating. See more Read all reviews
