Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? A great start to finish the story. Not a family friendly show. Never was. Uncomfortable as always- and that is the point. The relationships are getting messy and confusing... In a bad way. People shouting "Woke" are the same ones who stay ignorant or misinformed intentionally. The show was was political from the start, but the escalation of division is a spitting image of what we are facing in the US. Homelander fits the archetype of "The Trickster"- in the most obnoxiously evil ways, akin to Joffrey in GOT. Though exaggerated, Season 5 is prophetic to what we are witnessing in recent political history (arguably since Reagan). Unchecked power- and ongoing corruption. All reflecting real-time to a new level with our very own "Homelander". A childish and temperamental fool who has no regard for his own actions and has an insatiable need for CONSTANT approval and fealty. This show is political. But so is every day of our lives, whether we like it or not.

When I saw episode 3, I was reminded of the meme with Russian businessman Oleg Tinkov. "It's not just bold, it's incredibly bold." Only instead of "incredibly" the word is harsher. I like it so far, but I'm afraid they'll go overboard with the politics later.

This used to be clever, innovative and fun to watch. Sadly, each successive season the quality of the show has declined. It’s become nothing but heavy handed leftist propaganda. I’m not naive and I know the ideology of Hollywood. But this is poorly written garbage. It isn’t funny, it isn’t captivating and it isn’t thought provoking. It’s nothing but trashy, splatter theater. I’m holding my nose and watching because I’m curious to see how they drive this clunker home. I didn’t think anything could be as bad as season 4 and I was right. Season 5 is even worse.
