Perry’s performance is a spectacular piece of high-wire burlesque. There’s an extraordinary spontaneity to it. Go to Full Review

While expansively anarchic to a fault, the movie’s anger, and its pride, is convincing. Go to Full Review

Somehow, the "quality" of Tyler Perry's storytelling feels even worse when a positive, meaningful message is attempted, this time through the prism of Madea-universe regular Joe, a crass, nonsensical conduit for Black History 101... Go to Full Review

Despite a more overt message than we're used to from Mr. Perry, Joe’s College Road Trip feels stuck in the same tired rhythms — recycling broad caricature, nonsensical plotting, and humor that rarely rises above offensive. Go to Full Review

Can someone tell Tyler Perry that he doesn't have to keep doing this. He has to be doing well, right? Like, he has plenty of money already, doesn't he? Go to Full Review

D J @D.Jacobs 4h Extremely funny and educational at the same time. Tyler Perry is amazing along with the other main characters. Very very entertaining with lots of laughs. I had never watched a Tyler Perry movie before and can't wait to see what other movies he has done See more Donna W @Dwillians 13h I have consistently been unimpressed by Tyler Perry's movies, and his latest film, 'Joe's College Road Trip,' is particularly egregious. To the highest degree, I find it DISGRACEFUL! This movie purports to represent Black History with a narrative that I find disturbing, disgraceful, detestable, and utterly lacking in merit, portraying Black women in a derogatory manner, Black men as subjugated and foolish, and parenting that is depicted as lacking wisdom. In my opinion, this exemplifies why Black people globally face significant challenges. I am extremely displeased. The movie appears to be made for individuals who lack discernment! I chose not to watch the conclusion due to its offensive content and lack of insight being too overwhelming for my critical sensibilities. See more Sammy H 1d It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I know the critics don't like what they can't understand, plus they seem to hate Tyler Perry's successful career, I wonder why? See more jessica @Jessica135 1d It's pretty bad movie it has lot of sex in it and everything See more Shani S @Shanishoo 1d I watched the first fifteen minutes of it and was bored and disappointed. Lacks something, a whole lot of something. This seemed more like a play done on a stage in skits. Needed an additional director and more creative minds to assist in the writing of the movie. Well the beginning that i saw. Was done in poor taste in my opinion. I have liked previous movies that starred Madea but this is the first one that i couldn't stand watching. See more Keith H @DaBearInDaWoods 1d Tyler Perry's reminded me of the best 1980's raunchy two-guys go on an adventure / road trip flick except this one also includes some reminders that history can neither be ignored nor erased if we want to live in a better tomorrow. I laughed out loud multiple times. This film exceeded my low expectations. The extended bar fight scene where Joe deals with a bunch of realistic "Proud Boys" was excellent. I hope Perry makes another film featuring Joe. See more Read all reviews
