The direction of both Karlsen and Zackrisson is impeccable, finely tuned to both the melodrama and the gothic sensibility of Nesbo’s writing. Go to Full Review

I did find myself laughing out loud at a couple of points during the finale of Detective Hole, but that was more at the show than with it, so rushed and preposterous is its denouement. Go to Full Review

Based on the fifth Harry Hole book, The Devil's Star, it's a bit drawn out, but it gets right what The Snowman got wrong. Go to Full Review

The series is well-edited and photographed, has the pacing required for this type of production, and features music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis...which lends personality and quality to a very well-chosen soundtrack. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Between Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman, Detective Hole has more than enough to make this a must-watch for fans of mysteries and dark thrillers, with an ending that promises future seasons with just as much to tune in for. Go to Full Review

Pete C @Pete1 10h I enjoyed the acting, though the plot/writing felt a little haphazard. The various storylines did not come together very well at the end, I thought. Seems like there is a lot of potential here if they could tighten things with the writing. Didn't read the books, so not sure how it compares. Seems like it's worth a watch. See more Алиса И @RT59909979 12h Finally they made it! Surprisingly decent screen adaptation done with respect to author and fans. As a person who has read all Jø Nesbø's books about Harry Hole and who deeply cherishes this crime universe, I absolutely recommend watching this series. The cast is brilliant, even despite being not quite accurate in some cases. Nesbø's signature dynamics of storytelling feels the same as in his books. And the music was like an icing on a cake! However what I personally found a bit annoying was the color scheme, which is way too colorful and bright. Anyway, watching this TV show gave me full immersion, exactly the one I always experienced while reading Jø Nesbø's books. Looking forward to further screen adaptations of other books, especially "The Redeemer" and "The Snowman"! You nailed it, guys! See more Phil F @PhilofLeeds 17h I'm a big fan of the Jo Nebo/Harry Hole books, having read most of them. I have absolutely loved this series. Not only does the series nail the whole Hole (see what I did there...) feeling, but the way it's shot, the music, the pace, the atmosphere... everything was spot on. Tobias Santelmann as Harry Hole really got the character and Joel Kinnaman's Tom Waaler was deliciously evil and nasty. Point of note, the music (choices, useage etc) are very reminiscent of the same in Peaky Blinders. Cant wait for the next series !!! See more bob C @RT46426964 2d Strange attempt to convert Oslo into a sort of colder San Francisco. Didn’t work for me. See more RaeAnn G @FlipFlopContessa Apr 15 The show grabbed me from the very beginning. I know it sounds cliche but the twists left me wanting to watch the whole series in one sitting. The faults of Hole are plausible. I don’t think I could perform his job without something to get me through the day. It’s grim and gritty and provides enough details to try to solve the case. I pride myself in figuring out the key players early and Valaar was on my radar from the beginning. I also liked the way Hole and his future step son came together. I hope there are more shows. See more Manuel W @RT04587877 Apr 14 All the detective story stereotypes and cliches mixed together to a weak plot, full of plot holes, annoying characters, silly dialogues, and most of all: endless boring filler. Can be watched at 1.5x speed, skipping entire sections - especially those where the grumpy, alcoholic cowboy cop once again drowns in misery - and still nothing missed. See more Read all reviews
