Critics Consensus

Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel make a charming couple with plenty of chemistry, but that isn't enough to make up for Life as We Know It's formulaic plot and poorly written script.

Where Baby Boom gave hope, Life as We Know It brings despair. Go to Full Review Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) Oct 21, 2010
2.5/5
Despite the film's initial overloading of suburban stereotypes, the easy gags about promiscuity, baby vomit and nappy changing gradually give way to a pretty decent, if strictly formulaic, yarn about commitment and unexpected life changes. The film is so pleasant, in the end the director and stories capability surprise, as it flirts with something truly serious. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Nov 29, 2020

The comedy is mediocre, the progression of events are predictably contrived, and the character designs are generic. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

bruce F @bruce999 Aug 22, 2026 seemingly a disconnected drama of different people, going in different directions. but slowly.... very slowly , two people come together. likely most people will not make it to the end of the movie. but overall, the movie satisfies. See more Pauline W @Paulwall Jul 8, 2026 Trite. There is no chemistry between the leads and far more chemistry between the female protagonist and the doctor but why let chemistry get in the way of a trite and overly predictable script. It could have funny were it not so poorly written or had there been a twist in the end. Such awful stuff. Avoid. See more thiago S @Thiagostone Apr 2, 2026 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Jerod S @jeroduptown Jan 14, 2026 Complete nonsense from a social work perspective, Life As We Know It is still a warming kind of "kid bringing us together" flick. Hiegl before she got a bad wrap. See more Jenny H @RT37652521 Apr 14, 2025 This is my all time favourite film! Seen it so many times now and thought it was about time I left a review on here, especially as I’ve just seen how many not so good ones it has! Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel are fantastic actors and this movie brings a bit of everything- romance, sadness, laughter. See more Michael S @RT01071574 Jan 22, 2025 I found this to be a very enjoyable movie. Made me both laugh and cry. May not be everyone's "cup of tea", but I really don't get the extremely negative ratings given by some folks. See more Read all reviews
