It’s sometimes hard to know which couple is the most frustrated and fractious, and it hardly need be said that all four of these players are supremely watchable in their every scene. Go to Full Review

The addition of Allison Janney may be the best thing The Diplomat has done. The result is a delicious interplay of politics and diplomacy as the US leader, President Grace Penn (Janney), establishes her presidency. Go to Full Review

Question any of it for even a second and The Diplomat no longer works. But why would you question anything when Russell's dishevelled ambassador is so damn watchable? Go to Full Review

Even as international relations—and intimate relationships—approach the breaking point, “The Diplomat’s” willingness to push its characters to their limits remains a risky but richly rewarding strategy. Go to Full Review

The Diplomat Season 4 continues the trend of the series only getting smarter and sharper with each new installment, especially as the story goes global and begins to build out a character roster that should make other shows envious. Go to Full Review

While this season does rush over some story elements and the arcs can feel disjointed and busy, it does end in a believable and agitated manner, maintaining the same dynamic and atmosphere that has made this show a hit. Go to Full Review

Orlo G @RT16172020 2 hrs ago The Diplomat continues to impress with its intelligent writing, carefully constructed tension, and remarkably nuanced characters. What I appreciate most this season is how naturally it challenges the audience's loyalties. Last season, I was firmly on Kate's side, with little sympathy for Grace Penn. Now I find both equally compelling. Kate's convictions are understandable, but so is Grace's frustration with someone who repeatedly challenges her authority. The writing allows both perspectives to coexist without simplifying either character.Kate seems more restrained this season, but that evolution feels believable. The sharp, understated humor is another strength, often emerging at precisely the right moment. The First Gentleman remains an amusing enigma, rather like the tipsy aunt at a quinceañera who somehow finds herself involved in everything. Each season has its own identity, and I see no need to rank them. The storytelling remains engaging, thoughtful, and thoroughly entertaining. The other actors seemed completely lost, as if they didn’t know what to do with their characters. There was absolutely nothing, nothing at all, that kept me interested. So here’s my verdict: spare me the fifth season. See more Aviv S @RT27999683 7 hrs ago The most engaging and relevant season of TV I've ever watched. A must-see in these troubling times, especially for people in government positions. Stayed up all night to watch it! See more Leo W @LeoTW 12 hrs ago I love this show. It stays interesting and the split storie lines keep it fast paced and really fun to watch. See more Magnus A @RT19500319 17 hrs ago Excellent series - great cast, great story, very well made drama. (If only the real US President and his henchmen were as bright as these characters!) See more Will N @Willnyc 22 hrs ago There’s nothing more insulting than a brilliant premise, an award-winning cast, and a $100-million budget squandered on intellectually bankrupt writing. The characters who made this show extraordinary are now narcissistic caricatures, their intelligence lobotomized by marital histrionics, absurd betrayals, and politically idiotic decisions. If you’re going to steal Aaron Sorkin’s playbook, at least understand what made it brilliant. The West Wing cadence, rapid-fire dialogue, iconic alumni: all the swagger, none of the intellectual firepower. It’s as if someone fed the first three seasons into ChatGPT and asked it to preserve the quips, inflate the egos, manufacture relationship drama, and delete every functioning brain cell. On behalf of all fans, I hereby lodge a formal démarche against the showrunners for their flagrant violation of the show’s intelligence, credibility, and promise. We demand a change of government.
