The implausible escape of a brilliant murderess brings U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new partner to Ashecliffe Hospital, a fortress-like insane asylum located on a remote, windswept island. The woman appears to have vanished from a locked room, and there are hints of terrible deeds committed within the hospital walls. Finally watched Shutter Island this year, and it completely lived up to the hype. The mystery kept me hooked from start to finish, the atmosphere was incredibly tense, and every twist made me rethink what I had just seen. The performances were outstanding, and it's the kind of movie that stays with you long after the credits roll. Definitely one of the most memorable psychological thrillers I've watched.

amazing phycological horror, best I’ve seen so far. it’s a bit confusing in the middle but it’s up to you to choose the ending you believe.

Does cinema want to go to Shutter Island? In these times, my taste of movies has gone into new places, now it is even darker ones. I do not need to say it though - it is awesome. It has great casting choices? Why is that? Because it has Leonardo DiCaprio (Edward Daniels/Andrew Laeddis), Mark Ruffalo (Chuck Aule/Dr Lester Sheehan), Ben Kingsley (Dr John Cawley), Michelle Williams (Dolores Chanal) & many others. What do they have in common? They were great actors & an actress when performing those roles - ranging from iconic lines to body language. There is even smart cinematography: I enjoy what happens when ED is by a brutal event & it ends up in his dream. Those are twists, which is what makes something unpredictable. Who is the insane one?
