It’s a bit sad that director Mark Burman needed two other writers to turn out this perfunctorily handled heap of metal-fatigued tropes.

“Ambush” has the structure of an old-fashioned two-fisted combat picture, but with too little actual combat.

Smarter and more entertaining than one might expect from a small-scale, outwardly familiar story like this, “Ambush” feels like a throwback — mostly in a good way — to the ‘Namsploitation films that companies like Cannon churned out in the 1980s,

Ambush doesn’t revolutionize the Nam movie experience, but it’s impressively staged with action scenes that work within the budget while leaning heavily on its cast to tell an engaging and unique story.

Despite a creaky plot setup and a small budget, this Vietnam War story delivers commentary on the hypocrisy of war while still respecting the people who risk their lives to fight.

A talented cast forced to follow a very weak storyline. At times the dialogues was very corny. Connor Paolo was great in his role as Ackerman.

I know nothing about military insignia, who reports to whom, etc, however, what I am familiar with is a good vs a bad movie and good vs bad acting. This movie was awful on both counts. One redeeming quality - Jonathan Rhys Meyers, that's it and he couldn't save this disaster.

Cliche, unsophisticated, pretentious, lacking depth, and evidently low budget. Very little if any military accuracy. This movie was more like a tediously long episode of a 90s action TV show. If not for the two leading actors I would totally ignore this as tripe in the first 5 minutes, despite my love for war films, I kept thinking it will get better, it never does. Don’t watch this for any reason other than curiosity. Possibly the worst mainstream war movie ever made I’m actually annoyed.

I love the shots taken at the Marine Corps outdoor Air Museum in San Diego. There was nothing militarily correct in this time suck.

Could only stand about 5 or 6 minutes. Hard to distinguish if it’s drama or comedy. If it’s comedy it still can’t touch Tropic Thunder. If it’s drama, well then that’s just sad.
