Critics Consensus

Lackluster and ill-conceived, American Psycho 2 ditches its predecessor's clever satire in favor of shallow slasher tropes and unconvincing attempts at dark humor.

Having survived the infamous Patrick Bateman, a plucky co-ed becomes a slayer in her own right in this entirely unnecessary sequel.

Overcooked cash-in slasher sequel adds a female serial killer but misses the point.

Anonymously directed by Morgan J. Freeman, Psycho 2 trades its predecessor's sharp social satire for a mixture of dumbed-down irony, groan-inducing black comedy, and gratuitous bloodshed.

The excesses are compounded by an insistence on strewing the action with as much exposed flesh and spurting gore as possible. Shatner is sportingly self-deprecating, but this is strictly for exploitation fiends.

This inoffensive and relatively tame so-called sequel is nothing more than formulaic campus frolics with a light twist and just enough surprises to keep the viewer's attention.

A cheap sequel that has about as much in common with the satiric first film as "Cinderella 2" does.

I would give this a lower rating if I could.

Not as bad as the reputation would have you believe. Really fails to fill the shoes of it's predecessor but it doesn't make it a bad horror romp. Kinda like the cross between a chicken wing and "Scream" in a way.

A terrible sequel that had so obviously missed the entire satirical plot of its predecessor.

A criminology student wants to be teacher's assistant by killing off the competition after surviving the events of Patrick Bateman. The only thing that ties this to the original is a name drop. The punny kills are the best thing about this movie.

Uh, yeah, total piece of crap. Not smart, fresh, or even remotely innovative. Just hard to see how producers thought this would work.
