See more Omar G 01/30/2025 Batman Year One (2011). I like the character design, I would like to draw in that style and make a Fanfic from X-Men #143 onwards, like X-Men Elsewhen. Batman: Year One in comics is from what I have read the best Batman story although the protagonist was not Batman but James Gordon. It is the pinnacle of Frank Miller's career, perhaps he should have drawn it himself but with the artistic quality of when he drew Daredevil, Wolverine or Sin City, although David Mazzucchelli did a great job. This story in comics is the pinnacle of Batman so far. It is recommended to read the comic version and watch the animated film version Batman Year One (2011). Sometimes Batman seems like the real villain, like Bruce Wayne is a capitalist pig with his hoarding of wealth that causes poverty and with it crime, like Batman is a fascist who defends this capitalist system and like a good millionaire's son he has fun beating up these mentally ill people who want to get out of the system like Joker or Two Face, etc., but he doesn't kill them because if he does he'll be left without his toys. See more Jithin K 10/01/2024 Even though the movie is the adaptation of The origin story of Batman, it's really more about Gordon and Gotham and why Batman becomes necessary. The corruption at the heart of Gotham is the centre here and it is explored so well that even the hardcore fans of Batman's codes may forgive if he gets down to killing some. Gordon has never been as in-centre or as badass in anything else I've seen. I read the graphic novel a few years ago but forgot most of it which helped me enjoy this a bit more I think. This has some of the same issues I have with a lot of DC animated movies which always limit themselves with the way the animation and voice acting is directed but this did feel better than most of such DC films in that aspect. Bryan Cranston is such a great voice for Gordon. But it did have the potential to be even better if the animation and voice acting were treated more like a bigger film. But still, it's an incredible exploration of the corruption of society. This really reminds me of Serpico too. How many Serpico's come out successful with their ideals and how many get crushed by the system or just disappear entirely? See more Read all reviews
