It lacks the psychological realism of certain decent dramas and is too reliant on cheap pratfalls and Cavanagh's pinched approach to comedy. Go to Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle Oct 10, 2008

What elevates way above the merely adequate script by Sean Reycraft based on the novel by Michael Downing and Lynd's competent direction is young Noah Bernett as Scot. This kid is so great, he could give kid actors a good name again. Go to Full Review Lou Lumenick New York Post Oct 10, 2008

Anyone who's ever seen an After School Special knows where the family-friendly Breakfast With Scot is headed, no matter how well intentioned. Go to Full Review Amanda Jane Stern Film Inquiry Dec 3, 2019
While not without its one big flaw, Breakfast With Scot is one of those movies that just makes you feel good. It takes some heady subject matter and turns it into a lighthearted holiday movie that is well-acted and thoroughly enjoyable. Go to Full Review Mike Scott Times-Picayune Aug 14, 2009

Although it dishes up an original premise and tries to mine laughs from a setup most studios wouldn't have touched with a 10-foot feather boa, it stumbles when it comes to generating any real laughs. Go to Full Review Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald Dec 12, 2008

Breakfast with Scot isn't much on originality, but it is sweet enough to overcome the most cynical skeptic. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Jun 1, 2021 This movie was not that bad except it did not display any charm or romance with the two closeted dads. I was waiting for these guys to show some interest in each other but it took the end for a fleeting kiss which was so phony. Young Scot, was fairly poised as the flamboyant boy who loved musicals and feminine costumes. Couldn't someone fix this boy's teeth. See more Sep 7, 2017 nobody acts all high and mighty about cheaper by the dozen but suddenly this is supposed to be a psychologically gripping work of art and gets 52% when it is just a cutesy movie? Let the gays have cutesy. We deserve it! See more May 15, 2017 Enjoyed this movie, and even tho' it might be considered predictable in some ways, in others I thought it was unique and well-played. I don't think heart-warming is a bad thing either. See more Dec 2, 2016 New family tradition in our house around Xmas cuz "everybody's a little sissy around here". Great story that hits a lot of the greatest "gay family" squirmy moments with smarts and wit. See more Jun 12, 2016 Although it is cliched, but it was still charmingly great. See more Mar 12, 2016 I liked it a lot. It was fun and sweet and innocent and that all because of Noah Bernett who nailed it as Scot. A family movie about a-not-very-typical family! It was so refreshing just for that! See more Read all reviews
