Starring Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) and Christopher Abbott (Possessor, Sanctuary), BRING THEM DOWN is a tense and gripping thriller about two warring families set against the harsh landscape of rural west Ireland. When the ongoing rivalry between farmers Michael (Abbott) and Jack (Keoghan) suddenly escalates, it triggers a chain of events that take increasingly violent and devastating turns, leaving both families permanently altered. From first-time filmmaker Christopher Andrews and co-starring Colm Meaney, Paul Ready and Nora-Jane Noone, this is a fierce, muscular debut that signals a bold new cinematic voice.

Critics Consensus

By withholding clear heroes or easy villains in its tale of a destructive neighborly feud, Bring Them Down stands out as an exceptionally nuanced exercise in vengeance.

This is a clever film, and an atmospheric one, but its elaborate accumulation of cataclysms ultimately feels like one thing after — or before, or during — another.

It’s a serious, sombre film about something else — something, perhaps, very English that is fully smothered here.

An impressive first feature from Christopher Andrews... a bruising tale of vengeance accompanied by a savage, percussive score by Hannah Peel that sounds as though it was played on scrap metal and abandoned farm machinery.

The narrow scope—both in location and character count—allows Andrews to craft a singularly focused debut that manages to be simple and engaging.

Bring Them Down is a raw and brutally visceral film that doesn’t shy away from portraying violence. (...) While its premise is compelling, it often falters due to a disjointed execution. [Full Review in Spanish]

Andrews does a tremendous job of controlling the audience’s emotions surrounding both Michael and Ray’s relationship along with the rivalry forming between them and another father and son.

Dark. Depressing. Scenes of animals being killed. Foul language. If that’s your thing, give it a try. I walked out. I don’t like to watch helpless animals being killed.

Although the film had great performances and cinematography, both my friend and myself got sick watching this film! The abuse to animals was rampant and the abuse to the other families was also horrid! I am NOT a person who can calmly watch a film that shows intentional (although not actual) slaughter of animals and hatred between people who should be kind and non-abusive to their old neighbors. It made me sick and inside, I felt like crying!

Grotesque and unnecessary turn in the story that left me feeling really bad after watching this movie. I can handle a dark plot but I dont know what kind of sicko writes this level of detail into a story that goes on far too long. The feud was already believable without needing to take the audience into the writers disgusting dark place. Its a shame because the acting was great but DO NOT see this movie.
