It has an inspiring true story at its core, and the surfing scenes are definitely impressive, but the movie itself feels very formulaic. Gerard Butler gives a solid performance, but the characters aren’t developed enough to make a strong emotional impact. A lot of the story beats feel predictable, and it follows the typical sports drama structure without adding much that’s new. It’s not a bad movie, just kind of forgettable outside of the visuals. Overall, I’d give it a 5/10—it has its moments, but doesn’t really stand out compared to similar films.
