Incredibly engrossing but intermittently so. It holds you, but the grip could have been even more firm.

This is a worthy opening salvo, a film that succeeds through the sheer weight of our expectations, and that won't disappoint younger audiences.

Adamson’s [The Chronicles of Narnia] makes for a decent holiday flick for the family. There’s action, adventure, and plenty of good-natured heroes.

The film captures the essence of the novel, which succumbing to the 2000s tendency to lean into fight scenes and CGI (puppets look good, though!). The kids are well cast, but this adaptation feels bloated and padded at nearly 2.5 hrs.

Despite its generic swords-and-sorcery storyline, it's amusingly padded with extensive fantasy elements, making it a must-see for those itching for magic-doused adventure.

A classic that was beyond its time! The graphics are still phenomenal and the characters multi-dimensional. I watched it in theaters as a child and it still brings me goosebumps and tears as an adult. It’s a great family watch all year round, but especially magical for the holidays.

When I first saw this film in the theater I was on psychedelic mushrooms and was tripping the entire time off of Lucy's crooked teeth. Now many years later, viewing it sober, it's a solid adaption of C.S. Lewis's classic first entry into The Chronicles of Narnia Series. Tilda Swinton utilizes subtle body language and look to shine as the Ice Queen. The film also stays true to the novel's spiritual message. There's some corniness to get past with the four children, but it's an entertaining adventure for all ages.
