What to Know

Critics Consensus

The two female leads, as well as energitic musical numbers, enliven an otherwise silly reworking of Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot.

It's not really that complicated. Connie and Carla flounders because while men dressing up as women is funny, women dressing up as men is not. Go to Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Dec 22, 2010

Like an episode of particularly bad network television, this movie hasn't a clue as to how to do anything that doesn't feel contrived or unoriginal. Go to Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com May 6, 2009

Dave Trovato May 5, 2025 Great acting and I have not laughed this hard in years. Every actor was perfect for the role he or she played. I can't wait to watch it again and again and again with friends. See more Daniel O @RT03386531 Sep 20, 2023 Funny movie and great if you like musical numbers See more Apr 21, 2022 Hilarious Gender-bender -- If you like movies with a bit of gender-bending, this is a must-see. It's almost a remake of "Some Like It Hot" with a touch of "Victor/ Victoria." Connie and Carla witness a gangland murder in Chicago and have to get out of town, just like Joe (Curtis) and Jerry (Lemmon) in "Some Like It Hot." They make it to California, where they find work at a night club -- a drag night club -- as drag queens. In other words, they're women impersonating men who are impersonating women. The hilarity ensues. Unfortunately, it probably won't be remembered as well as the other more renowned gender-benders like "Some Like It Hot," "Tootsie" and "Mrs. Doubtfire." Definitely a fun classic with Nia Vardalos & Toni Collette. One of my ‘feel good' classics. Definitely ahead of its time, with inclusivity. Drag Queen Hilarity! I LOVE this movie. And Nia & Toni are surprisingly talented singers! Makes the tunes, all the more fun! See more Read all reviews
