Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 23 hrs ago Wonderfully entertaining futuristic crime comedy that, given the passing of the years, is now set in the past, so it is science fiction, science fact, futuristic and quaint, all at the same time. John Spartan (Stallone), a cop put into cryogenic freeze as punishment for collateral damage in the apprehension of a notorious crook, is woken up in the future by the LA PD. Why? Because they are now so neutered they cannot cope with same crim, Simon Phoenix (Snipes) who has been released from his own cryo-freeze and set loose upon the population. Who let him loose? Wait and see. Spartan is partnered up with Huxley (Bullock) an eager young cop full of nostalgia for the bygone days of real policing. Maybe now she'll get a chance to bust some real perps? Demolition Man is full of satirical humour, predicting a future where political correctness has made everything comfortably bland and sterile. How very prescient. This fish-out-of-water comedy is often a riot of fun. Kiss kiss bang bang. See more Sean E @EllissinemaPodcast 3 days ago Demolition Man is a glorious artifact from a Hollywood that feels increasingly lost to time. Big, ridiculous, wonderfully excessive, and still a hell of a lot of fun. Stallone is a walking wrecking ball, Wesley Snipes is an absolute lunatic, and Sandra Bullock nearly steals the picture. Marco Brambilla directs this futuristic circus with tremendous energy, while Alex Thomson's cinematography, David L. Snyder's production design, Elliot Goldenthal's score and the magnificent stunt teams deliver old-school Hollywood spectacle. They even blew up an actual building for the movie. Beautiful insanity. Beneath the explosions is a surprisingly clever satire about a society that's eliminated danger by sacrificing freedom and individuality. Thirty years later, the practical destruction, movie-star swagger and gloriously strange ideas make this a nostalgic reminder of an era when Hollywood wasn't afraid to get weird. And I still don't know how to use the three seashells. See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 12, 2026 Demolition Man = a *3.5 star Movie...
