Robert P @Superbad 1 day ago Drugstore Cowboy is a *4.5* star Movie... See more Antony B @RT29664284 Jul 26, 2026 Drugstore Cowboy is a raw, hypnotic trip into the wreckage of addiction, but beneath all the darkness there’s a strange poetry and tenderness. The characters feel painfully real, drifting through a world where every score, lie, and desperate decision carries a price. Matt Dillon is magnetic, the writing is sharp, and the whole thing has that rare quality of feeling both grimy and strangely beautiful. A haunting film that lingers long after the high wears off. See more Dwayne W @Dwayneee Jul 19, 2026 Drugstore Cowboy is a bruised, beautiful outlaw ballad soaked in neon, desperation, and the kind of doomed cool that only true cult classics possess. Matt Dillon leads a crew of drifting ghosts chasing the next fix, the next score, and maybe—if the universe is feeling generous—the next chance at redemption. With its hypnotic style, razor-sharp observations, and haunting sense of melancholy, the film turns a life of chaos into a strangely poetic journey. Gritty, fearless, and unforgettable, Drugstore Cowboy isn’t just a movie about hitting bottom—it’s about finding humanity in the wreckage. See more Brant F @destroyfascism Jun 16, 2026 A phenomenal performance by Matt Dillon anchors an absolutely stunning film from Gus Van Sant - perhaps his best. The movie never succumbs to sentimentality, yet maintains a deep connection to its characters and a dark sense of humor beneath its grim subject matter. William S. Burroughs's cameo alone is worth the price of admission. The ending is also not the cop-out many drug movies sadly capitulate to. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, this is just one of those movies that I found boring otherwise. I wanted to get into the storyline, but it just didn't grab me at all. I found myself struggling to get through it at times, and even the exciting moments didn't engage me as much as I would have hoped. Overall, this is an acclaimed movie that didn't resonate with me, and I personally found it to be a difficult watch, despite some noticeable technical qualities. It’s bleak without being boring and funny without letting anyone off the hook. Basically, a road trip where every gas station is a pharmacy and every pharmacy is a terrible idea. I loved it.
