Nerdy accountant Harold (John Cho) and his irrepressible friend, Kumar (Kal Penn), get stoned watching television and find themselves utterly bewitched by a commercial for White Castle. Convinced there must be one nearby, the two set out on a late-night odyssey that takes them deep into New Jersey. Somehow, the boys manage to run afoul of rednecks, cops and even a car-stealing Neil Patrick Harris before getting anywhere near their beloved sliders.

Critics Consensus

The likable leads and subversion of racial stereotypes elevate Harold and Kumar above the typical stoner comedy.

Harold and Maude Go to White Castle might have been a better bet, but Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is nevertheless a gross-out comedy with a difference.

At once smart and stupid, it’s an odd mix that works just enough to make up for its failures.

Just when we thought the stoner comedy was a hazy relic of the past, along comes a new farce that has every hallmark of having been written while under the influence.

It’s not a cinematic masterpiece, but it’s a lot of fun, and a rare stoner film that’s about something more than stoners.

I was smiling every moment of this film. And laughing quite often. Even the minor characters were funny.

One of the funniest films ever made and actually has a very poignant point about ethnicity acceptance in America. And you have to see it for Neil Patrick Harris alone.

I remember liking this movie a lot. It's famous for it's weird concept, and unforgettable leads. Also, a great addition to the raunch com subgenre. After viewing, you will never see the burger company the same way again. You just won't.
