A rigorously entertaining adventure story told through a spartan script and memorable set pieces, Heart of the Beast pays rousing tribute to man's best friend.

There are moments when Heart of the Beast comes close to the familiar conventions of the survival genre, and some of its threats are more predictable than others. But the film’s sincerity is difficult to resist.

I did not like how the main character died and the dog lived. I wish the dog would have saved the main character.
