It's a strong debut by Weekes and nails the essential part of a horror movie: the horror. Go to Full Review

The film has much to say about grief, guilt, assimilation and the on-going refugee crisis. And on top of all that, it's also a nifty nerve-jangler. Go to Full Review

His House is a story of guilt, loss, and the challenges of assimilating to another culture. It demonstrates fiction’s ability to foster empathy, and proves there is value in using a well-orchestrated scare-fest as a vessel for such powerful themes. Go to Full Review

This is exactly the type of storytelling that the horror genre excels at. It amplifies real human emotions and fears to the level of overload, resulting in a uniquely empathetic experience. Go to Full Review

Brandon L @stoopih 2 days ago The is one of those movies where the horror is a very real thing that stems from humanity. It highlights the fear and uncertainty that immigrants deal with as well as the horrifying situation that forced them to leave their homes in the first place. On a more personal level, the horror our main protagonists face is derived from their very own guilt due to circumstances leading up to the upheaval of their lives. I love the message, but I didn't love the way they presented it in this movie. The scares are repeated over and over again to drill their message into our brains as if we aren't paying attention. As an educational piece made to bring awareness to a real world problem, this movie did it's job. As a horror movie that's meant to keep the audience engaged, it fell short. By the halfway point, I was tired of seeing the same thing over and over again and just wanted to see the end. The twist brought me back, but it wasn't enough to warrant the tedium of the buildup. The true scare in this one is that we realize that *we* are the boogie-man. Gathering darkness And soreand sorrow, the chill settles in. Anyone claiming to be bored is either a nine year old edgelord or a 40+ edgelord. Or a scaredy cat. I have no idea what critics are thinking but this and Under The Shadow were the biggest waste of time. DONT WATCH. See more Sarah D @RT94770978 Sep 12, 2026 It was more sad than scary. The ending pissed me off. It was pretty good but I feel like the ending should have went a different way. See more Read all reviews
