AR T @nakeddisco 3 days ago Overall a great watch with seemingly never-ending w-t-f moments and grisly, unexpected twists through to the end. A pleasantly unexpected watch that proved brilliant, vengeful, twisted, and at times unnecessarily gory, graphic, and violent. A fun watch overall with over-the-top gore and questionable yet gripping details sure to elicit a visceral reaction from its viewer. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting before watching but it wasn’t this; it pleasantly surpassed whatever I would have assumed on multiple levels. Some plot points and story arcs left me feeling grossed out and asking ‘why’, but still I was glued to the screen all the way thru (even if at times out of pure perplexity). Not long, intricately crafted or high on budget but simplistic, funny and light hearted (despite the shock of one or two scenes). Good message and had a fun time watching it. An interesting plot, great acting, weird but relatable characters....well Elijah Wood's character is so complex i may have to watch the film again. All the action sequences are offbeat and surprising so don't expect the typical Hollywood formula punch outs and shoot outs. Melanie Lynskey is so believable and realistic in her role that any viewer will quickly become sympathetic to her life and plight. Even every one of the supporting cast members and their roles are completely developed from the detective to the main crook and especially the rich lawyer's wife. I love the attention to detail in the writing, costumes and sets. Two thumbs up. See more Troy R @Grim16 May 18, 2026 Acting was good, story was decent, ending was ok. Funny at times though often a bit dark. Much more of a drama and a sad one at that as the main character losses all hope in life/society. Can usually gauge quickly if I’ll like the movie. So here I am, doing my little part to elevate art that I personally believe deserves, and more importantly, needs to be recognized. This movie was, in my humble opinion, executed beautifully. Still processing exactly what I took from it. And that in an of itself is more than most movies out there. To return to the original reason I felt obliged to write this review… it’s movies like this that demonstrate so well how important, necessary and beautifully random, this ultimate of human art forms (in my opinion) is. This is, again just my personal opinion. But I think it’s important to support and recognize such achievements when they cross our paths. Kudos to all those involved. That’s all. The idea and relationships are a bit too simple to evoke a strong reaction. See more Read all reviews
