Landon J @Minxsykitty Jul 30 I dunno, I like Eastwood, but this didn't hold me. Things feel far too familiar when we get about 2/3 done. I was reminded of about a hundred other titles viewing this. Actors do a great job with what they're given, just felt overwhelmingly generic. See more Jay W @RT52162311 Jul 13 In this film, John Malkovich wants to assassinate the president, and Eastwood is a member of the secret service trying to keep the president alive. Eastwood's character happened to be on duty when Kennedy was assassinated and has to deal with his guilt about that. There was a real uptick in JFK related material in the early 90's. This film is well shot, and well-acted, particularly from our two main leads, Malovich and Eastwood. Eastwood has a line where he says a good scowl can be just as powerful as a bullet, and from anyone else that would sound crazy. And Malkovich earned that Oscar Nomination, but there was no way he was beating Tommy Lee Jones for the Fugitive. There is a romantic subplot that goes no where. And the movie goes on for too long. After assassination attempt number 5, it starts to get a bit repetitive. And there are some moments where Malkovich gets away, that there is no way he should have gotten out of. But overall, the movie hits its target. See more Romas M @Romas Jun 2 Greetings from Lithuania. "In the Line of Fire" (1993) is a movie I have seen countless times since 1994. It is one of my favorite movies with Clint Eastwood and that alone says a lot when speaking about the most decorated and prolific performers / directors in movie history. It is a such a well made thriller by the late great Wolfgang Petersen that involves right from the opening until the very end. John Malkovich was incredible in this movie, as well editing and music by Ennio Morricone (!). The story plays exceptionally well as a thriller and cat and mouse game between two people who both need a redemption and a second chance. Overall, "In The Line of Fire" is an exceptional thriller and a highly entertaining film. See more Diandre R @RT53139537 May 16 I tried to keep my dislike for Clint Eastwood and his movies out of this review, but this is one of the reasons why I don’t really like his movies. It felt drawn out and boring. I will say this though — the best thing about the movie is John Malkovich. He was very good in this movie. I also did not care for the love connection between Clint Eastwood’s character and Rene Russo’s character. Dylan McDermott’s character also died way too fast. And honestly, all the Secret Service agents made some of the dumbest choices throughout the movie. Not a good movie to me. See more Jason H @RT50328122 Apr 21 I used to love this movie. Now?
