Critics Consensus

Well-acted and fiendishly frightening with an emotionally affecting story at its core, It amplifies the horror in Stephen King's classic story without losing touch with its heart.

The serious dramatic themes ring hollow, however, leaving only the paperback boogety boogety to justify the Oscar-bait running time.

The film depends - and succeeds - entirely on the strength of their performances, and for two hours that speed by all too quickly, it's not too much of a stretch to feel like we're on summer vacation with them.

It’s exciting to remember the reintroduction to Pennywise was not just brilliant, but an important piece of horror’s revival.

IT 2017 is one of the best mainstream, general audience horror movies to come out in the last decade. Director Andy Muschietti keeps most of the dread from the source material and includes some modern production and jump scares...

Muschietti’s film teaches the audience that it is only when you are alone that IT sees you as vulnerable, but together–with friends that care so deeply for you and you for them–any disaster that comes your way can and will be conquered.

A wonderful heartfelt adventure recapturing the true horrors of growing up. The cast of children bring more energy and imagination to their roles than most adult actors do. You won't be able to look away.

Goofy version of the original. A movie should only be remade or built upon if you can out do the original in terms of character development and plot. This failed in so many levels. Found this movie to be very disappointing but maybe if someone hasn't seen the original, they may like it.
