Critics Consensus

Jurassic World can't match the original for sheer inventiveness and impact, but it works in its own right as an entertaining -- and visually dazzling -- popcorn thriller.

Aramide Tinubu Shadow and Act 04/12/2017
Jurassic World is a visually striking thrill, packed with enough adventure to leave even the most cynical 21st century viewer in awe. Though the storyline itself brings little originality, its cheesiness is oddly endearing. Go to Full Review

The whole thing is an elaborate fantasy, so it seems a bit churlish to say, "that's not believable!" But even a film like this needs some internal logic. Go to Full Review

Jurassic World served up a remix of Jurassic Park, and it remains arguably the most satisfying and rewatchable installment in the franchise since the first film. Go to Full Review

Just as the dictionary definition of "spectacle" states, the blockbuster is unusual, notable, and entertaining in an eye-catching, dramatic, and very public way. It is big, loud, and dumb, but, hot damn, it sure is fun. Go to Full Review

... a lot of fun, part mindless two-hour theme park ride, part self-aware sequel where supposedly smart people make a cascade of bad decisions. Go to Full Review

Grandma9 02/17/2025 another great Jurassic World movie, a always.. Looking forward to more. See more Joshua 01/02/2025 Fun great action. Crazy dinosaurs. And weird story line See more Big Red 07/21/2023 I really enjoyed the ride! See more Noah L @PilgorOfSanAngora 5h I honestly really like Jurassic World. Instead of repeating the same thing they did in the last two movies (going in abandoned areas) the film was about what if they were able to make a successful dinosaur park. But it isn't just succes the films about, it also exploring the dangers of technology (like creating a hybrid dinosaur) and how much destruction it could create. And speaking of hybrids, The I-Rex is just such a cool threat. Her Intelligence, Personality, Design...all so amazing. This movie doesn't have perfect character but the humans in this movie are more well written then most of the others in the franchise (except the first movie) and I also really like the actors. This movie also has some very great action scenes (like the I-Rex breakout, Velociraptor chase, and Finally). However this movie isn't perfect. It lacks the tension that made the first movie so great, and sometimes focuses too much on action rather then story telling...but overall I'd consider this movie good. See more Justin T @RT08580778 6h I really didn’t like the first hour. It didn’t feel natural. It felt staged, rehearsed. I also noticed so many technical issues like the helicopter rotor blades stopping spinning instantly and the chroma keying looking a bit sloppy. I was impressed with the amount of rotorscope work they did on the petting zoo shot. I didn’t like the casting of the children. The final 45 minutes though was entertaining, really good actually, just a shame that the first hour is annoying. See more Warren V @Warren187 Apr 15 a serviceable reboot at best, but the dinosaurs felt weightless, like the practical effects are just gone, Chris Pratt was fine as Owen, the other characters were fine, the dinosaurs are not as good as in the Park films See more Read all reviews
