Chris 06/02/2021 My granddaughter liked the movie. She just turned 8. See more Penguin O 5d This film was the epitome of the series. Actually, I'm not sure. It may be on par with 2. But for one, I can say the animation realism is really good here. After all, from 2010 to 2014, Dreamworks was competing in photorealism with the best of the best (which some people like to call Pixar) in that category. A lot of scenes are truly dazzling. Anyways, the film is great. The humor is really good, the circus animals (except Sonia; her relationship with King Julien was weird) were endearing, Dubois was a slightly creepy but very effective villain, the music had good picks, and I liked the realization the animals came to about living in the zoo. All in all, something you should definitely watch... I hope they make a Madagascar 4 soon. Or whenever the gold runs out. The new characters are amazing, the villain is simply the best antagonist of the film because of how terrifying and threatening she was and the film had an epic conclusion to the franchise. I understand the story can be easily compared to Open Season 3, but unlike that film at least Madagascar 3's circus storyline didn't feel forced in any way. I’ve read that DreamWorks originally had an unrelated circus-themed story in development during the 2000s, which was about a bear who runs away to join the circus. However, the film never saw the light of day due to production issues, but if this was the unrelated story converted into Madagascar 3, then I think it works either way. And who can't forget Afro Circus, GENIUS!!! This is how the franchise should have ended… I repeat, "Should have."
