So it seems the real target audience for this one is "cinephiles with kids." And, for the most part, "Minions & Monsters" does a pretty good job at combining the respective humors of both of those demographics.

I’m in the theater now. I decided to write this review so I have something to do besides look up at the screen. This is a non-sensical hodgepodge of smaller, non-sensical hodgepodge shorts. The animation is incredible, but ruined by the literal cringe of wondering what horror will happen next will it be yet another crudely applied visual or reference, or another completely mentally jarring story change. IDK, but I do know it will be delivered with a mentally exhausting misery I never realized possible. They’ve somehow managed to rip off several mainstream ideas and literal characters, but without capturing any of the enjoyment. I’m getting ready to leave but wanted to let my 11 year old finish her nap though I’m conflicted about letting her even sleep to this noise. In short, I don’t really like it.
