Splashes of gore and evisceration combine with a nicely nasty psycho-killer turn from Luke Evans to enliven this grindy slasher from Midnight Meat Train director Ryuhei Kitamura.

It makes good on the expectations of its titles, though fails to make the journey towards that predetermined destination all that enjoyable.

More often than not, the film skips from one dull cliché to another, even as it attempts to launch a massive series of laughably implausible twists.

Unfortunately, this is not a triumphant return for Kitamura, as No One Lives is a pretty stupid movie.

Really solid action slasher. The roles of perpetrator and victim keep shifting throughout, leaving you with a fuzzy sense of who the actual villain is. A pretty wild and weird story overall – and the title says it all. Bottom line: Recommended for fans of unconventional slashers.
