Critics Consensus

Now You See Me's thinly sketched characters and scattered plot rely on sleight of hand from the director to distract audiences.

The magic tricks are quite spectacular, especially one which features Ms Fisher floating above the audience in a giant bubble. But Now You See Me needed more sharpness for it be a really good film.

It's a fun set-up with a terrific cast - [Jesse] Eisenberg plays against type as a smooth-talking card trickster while [Woody] Harrelson radiates easy charm as a mentalist and serial flirt.

Audiences go to magic shows to get fooled, but that doesn't mean they want to leave feeling cheated.

I could have used more character development to help with the lulls in the story. This is a movie I didn't need in my life.

The middle act drags a lot but it has enough fun action sequences and an attractive cast that kept my attention throughout.

Very cool suspenseful movie about magic that has action! I’ve only seen Mark Ruffalo do Marvel film so it was cool to see him in a different setting

If you can suspend your belief in reality when watching this movie, you’ll have a good enough time to enjoy it. There’s magic and there’s fantasy and this 3rd installment leans on the latter. Could have cropped out 10 minutes of run time too.

I was steadily entranced throughout the whole film. Working to understand the tricks was a joy as they were uncovered. Woody Harrelson once again stands out as well.

Like the Prestige, this is one of those films I really gotta watch again to formulate some stronger opinions. Very cool what they did here, but a rewatch can really change my opinions here.
