Critics Consensus

The story may feel a bit strained at feature length, but Nude Tuesday is an impressive experimental exercise that's also frequently funny.

At 100 minutes, it’s fair to say Nude Tuesday overstays its welcome a little — it’s quite slight, after all - and some of the jokes can be hit and miss. But it’s funny nonetheless.

It’s genuinely moving and that feeling is not diminished, even though one does laugh...

It’s mad and it works: a comedy in which the actors speak complete gibberish, with different comedians writing different subtitles to create different films.

The film is laugh-out-loud good, and perfect for a film night with your best mates or your special someone.

Something this—for the lack of a better term—outta pocket shouldn’t work, and yet, it does.

However one chooses to understand the scenes in pure gibberish—subtitles be damned—nonetheless drives home one important point. Emotions, in English or Latin or otherwise, are always universal.

A film that offers a wild, imaginative experience on several levels. Spoken in an invented language (to symbolize the communication difficulties between the lead couple), it was subtitled by three different comedians who had no knowledge of the original script. It is a highly original, funny, and fascinating film about a couple seeking to rediscover their sexuality at a spiritual retreat with a guru (Jemaine Clement, of Flight of the Conchords) who takes them on a mind-bending journey that is far more witty than spiritual.

The concept is pure genious, I would've been interested what the original script was, and what the other subtitles look like. The gibberish sounds like a legit language and the film has a great 90s Scandinavian film style to it.

Farcical in concept and execution. Weak writing and direction, but acting is good. Very few laughs.
