The discovery of a clue to mankind's origins on Earth leads a team of explorers to the darkest parts of the universe. Two brilliant young scientists lead the expedition. Shaw hopes that they will meet a race of benevolent, godlike beings who will in some way verify her religious beliefs, while Holloway is out to debunk any spiritual notions. Even if the movie's logic ultimately spirals down into a vortex of hysteria, horror and hokum, I enjoyed the bulldozer intensity of the climax, which barely keeps a lid on the crackpot cult movie that's wrestling for the soul of this... blockbuster.

Yeah, I love the film. It’s a big budget version of a stupid 80s alien-rip-off. That’s how I view it. It’s not canon, obviously. It’s a rip-off film like Galaxy of Terror but made by an immensely talented filmmaker (not storyteller).

The film had everything I was expecting - and no more. Every actor is to be commended: they all managed to keep a straight face. Great special effects of course with plentiful instances of horrible things bursting out of characters' stomachs, and much writhing with malicious tentacles. It is an absolutely stupid film and I loved it.

I was disappointed by this film . It offered so much ,but failed to deliver . Firstly after a cesarean section, she strung to life ,ran and jumped . Loss no blood and with the occasional " ouch" reminded us that she had just given birth to a squid .You have to make the humans human . No mother in her right mind could do this even if it’s 2094 .Secondly it was the same stuff from Alien again .The shocks of given birth to a squid or an alien had already been done , more than a decade ago . It was just repeated . Thirdly unless you are an Alien fan you were lost . It was a good idea but the delivery was so weak .

Great special effects, some cool world generators. The story is incredibly banal, the dialogue is hilarious and the acting is childish. I’m really surprised that anyone treated this attempt at sci-fi seriously.

Should be Preposterous. Lacking all tension created in early offerings. Cardboard characters with dialogue to match. Elba for example not close to original same for android. And as been mentioned in other reviews. They do the dumbest things. Endured about a hour.

A hugely ambitious prequel. Superb lore building script, obviously superb direction, superb special effects and truly superbly talented, committed cast. A genre redefining film by one of cinema's true living masters who took a very brave creative decision in going back to a genre that he effectively created. I have hugely high hopes for the rest in this series. In a word, superb.
