Más allá de lo mal que ha envejecido en el plano visual, de un CGI sencillamente espantoso y de sus inmensas lagunas argumentales, la película conserva una frescura e hilaridad envidiables. No solo revolucionó el género de la parodia, sino que estableció la piedra angular del tipo de humor políticamente incorrecto y desacomplejado que definiría a la primera década de los 2000. Su magia reside en el enfoque: cuando el espectador decide no sobrepensar la coherencia global y abraza el metraje como una sucesión de bocetos humorísticos ligeramente conectados, la experiencia resulta absolutamente desternillante. There are a few chuckles, but for the most part, you have to be high as Shorty for these "jokes" to land. But what I really appreciated about the film was the mixture of the plots of “Scream” “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “The Usual Suspects”. It is so brazenly unoriginal, so eye-wateringly puerile, as to simultaneously demand it be consigned to the trash and embraced with alacrity. It is a paradox, worthless and hilarious. The Scary Movie franchise later fell under the control of those with far greater comedic talent than the Wayans', but this is where the plagiarism began. Plagiarism because this is more than an imitation of Scream (1996) - should I say less than? - it is a shameless rip-off of the source material. Not only Scream, for that matter. It's Scream as reconceived for someone with the intellectual ability of Jake Harper from Two & A Half Men. Throw in obvious references to I Know What You Did Last Summer, and to The Blair Witch Project, and take every opportunity for jokes about bodily functions. Voila! The emancipation of the dipsh*t. Now I have to do a bleach bath for my computer. What were they thinking.
