Peter W @RT12077588 6 days ago Shell is an average horror film, with moments of body horror and awkwardly cringeworthy comedic gags. While the premise isn’t new or particularly shocking, the movie deserves credit for introducing fresh concepts, such as its futuristic world, which is filled with fun and creative ideas. The performances are adequate, but Elisabeth Moss’s lead character often feels extremely childish, and while Kate Hudson clearly seems to be having a blast, her performance and character bring nothing new to the screen. In the end, Shell is harmless and a little corny, and many audiences will happily "shell" out for a ticket to enjoy its brainless silliness. See more Isabella C @RT34430685 Sep 11, 2026 A total rip off of the substance mixed in with copy and paste scenes (lighting, camera work, bloody horror, prop and set) from Jurassic park. Considering this is a movie about the importance of uniqueness in Hollywood, it is quite ironic how many scenes could be credited to different films. I will however say I did enjoy the style of filming and camera work, nice to see a warmer/softer lighting in a modern day film. Also noticed the consistency in the characters contrasting colours (white and black) through styling choices and also camera angles. Finally, what a lazy ending wow. Even with the shittiness that came from the first 3/4 of the movie there was room for improvement until a giant lobster became present on my screen. The ending was just as bad as the ending of "The Substance". I think both movies had good ideas but The Substance expressed them alot better. This movie is like the ending of The Substance but all the way through. See more WhySoSerious . @that1chick Aug 18, 2026 It’s entertaining enough for a rainy Sunday afternoon. See more Cindy B @RT06884515 Jul 21, 2026 Silly, but entertaining. Elizabeth Moss is great, as always See more Giorgio G @GioBlob Jul 19, 2026 What an utter crap!!! First I was surprised to see here on IMDB that this was already a 2024 release, and only appeared in our cinemas today. The trailer looked alright and the story is a bit similar to "The Substance" with Demi Moore. While the movie is principally a mediocre flick, trying to be a thriller, it unfortunately doesn't delivering too much on that account. To make things not only worse, but absolutely idiotic and ridiculous the last 10 minutes transform everything into an abhorrent senseless stupid creature flick of the cheapest B-Movie kind. Without the end it would have been a 3/10, but with that bull...t at the end it's a 1/1000. A complete waste of time. See more Read all reviews
