It's consistently absorbing as well as evocative to the harsh finish, with mordant plot surprises Connolly keeps smartly tucked away. Go to Full Review Horatia Harrod Financial Times Aug 4, 2021

The landscape may be a tinderbox waiting for a spark, but the film - based on the 2016 bestseller by Jane Harper - fails to catch light. Go to Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com May 25, 2021

“The Dry” isn’t the most spectacular mystery or crime film you’re ever going to see, but it still manages to use the talents of its underrated protagonist well enough to entertain us for almost two hours. [Full review in Spanish]. Go to Full Review Mo Muzammal Vague Visages Jul 27, 2023
The elements of The Dry may be conventional, but the presentation, as well as Connolly’s attunement to very real concerns, still burns. Go to Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn Dec 11, 2022

This is on the "better" end of most murder mystery films. Being set in an international place made it more intriguing and unique. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Katherine Jul 12, 2021 I don’t want to give anything away. As The Dry unfolds, it becomes more and more outstanding. A must see! See more Anne K Jul 12, 2021 Visually stunning film that introduces you to complex and unique- almost bizarre- characters. The story deftly melds an small-town mystery that has a folklore-feel with a fresh gruesome murder. Thought the score was great and really elevated the ending scenes. Also, can never go wrong with Eric Bana. There was one minor plot point at the end that didn't make sense to me, but that is probably because the film is adapted from a book. Still, a great film.
