New York college student Justine (Lorenza Izzo), a lawyer's daughter, meets a student activist named Alejandro (Ariel Levy) when he goes on a hunger strike on behalf of underpaid janitors. Smitten, Justine agrees to help Alejandro undertake his next project: to save the Amazon. She soon learns to regret her decision when their plane crashes in the Peruvian jungle and she and the rest of their group are taken captive by a tribe of hungry cannibals.

The Green Inferno may not win writer-director Eli Roth many new converts, but fans of his flair for gory spectacle should find it a suitably gruesome diversion.

Flat-pack acting, frat-boy screenwriting (the portrayal of activists is spitefully dumb) and retro gore combine with smug throwback neocolonialist racism and unfunny jokes about diarrhoea, dope and Scooby-Doo.

The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who travel to the Amazon to save a tribe’s land. After their protest succeeds, their plane crashes in the jungle and they are captured by a cannibal tribe. The tribe brutally kills the students one by one while they try to escape. Justine later learns the activist leader mostly cared about fame and attention, not the actual cause. In the end, she escapes and gets rescued but lies to protect the tribe from being destroyed by outsiders. The movie is a graphic survival horror film with a dark message about fake activism and social media attention.

It really seemed like just a chance to show gore but really wasn’t entertaining. It was ridiculous how she covered up for the tribe and disrespected her friends brutal death.It made no sense.
