Critics Consensus

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone serves up some goofy laughs, but given its outrageous conceit, it's surprisingly safe and predictable.

With its silly, glittery costumes and warring stars, this basically does for magic what Blades Of Glory did for ice skating.

Since every funny moment here involves cynicism, arrogance, heartlessness, and self-destruction, you never believe the movie when it's telling you how nice and contrite these characters are.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone makes the classic mistake of thinking a comedy about magicians will be magical.

If only the writers had locked themselves in a dark room for a little longer, this might have been more memorable but ultimately it's a serviceable one-and-done that, no matter how inoffensive, is hardly worth recommending.

What's incredible is how bad a film it is with such a talented cast.

More humorous than any of the actual events in the film is the appearance of Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, and Jim Carrey together onscreen in outlandish costumes.

This is a silly but funny film. It's not massively sophisticated, and the story is predictable. But there are absolutely some laugh out loud jokes along the way. If you like anchorman / Zoolander, etc - you will like this. If you find this type of humour childish, it's not for you. I think 37% is harsh. Personally I'd give it a very reasonable 73% To conclude - superficial, but actually humorous. Worth a watch for a chuckle.

They assembled an incredibly talented cast up top, but the lack of diversity hurt the film's credibility. The structure made it difficult to like Steve Carell's character, which is really hard to do.

This is a fun comedy and very underrated to me. I’m biased being a magician maybe, but I love the magical references and the parodies of real life magi. Carell and Buscemi have great comedic chemistry and the supporting cast including Olivia Wilde and Jim Carrey are a great addition to this comedy. A fun time at the films that I would watch again and again.
