Critics Consensus

Boasting beautiful animation, a charming voice cast, laugh-a-minute gags, and a surprisingly thoughtful story, The Lego Movie is colorful fun for all ages.

Hilarious and heartfelt in the right ways, The Lego Movie also successfully pokes fun at the genre cliches we're all so used to.

It's one of the few movies based on a toy with no explicit story behind it. And it is, so far, the only one that's really good.

The movie is a wonderful surprise, cleverly written and executed brick by brick with a visual panache.

Miller and Lord deserve a hearty pat on the back. Congratulations guys, you've made the best animated film in years.

There are not many greats to choose from, but there is no more perfect merger between a product or toy and a movie than "The LEGO Movie."

It’s to Lord and Miller’s credit that The Lego Movie rarely feels hemmed in by the limitations of its premise.

It was very nostalgic to see this instant classic of a film back in theaters again. If anything my love for this movie grew after watching it again.

I just watched this for the first time & really enjoyed it. I watched it in 3D which made the experience even better. I took my 10 year old nephew & he also liked it. It made us both want to go build Lego sets after we left the theater.

They don't make movies like they used to, only because it's an economically licensing nightmare. The conclusion was moreso a PR stunt from Lego to show unearned compassion however.

I would've loved it in 2-D so more details would've been visible, as so many scenes have such layers of depth to explore. How I would've loved to be able to pause moments of the film on that theatrical scene. What a fun adventure with a great lesson.
