The Line is a campus thriller that plunges into the dangerous world of college fraternities and blind adherence to tradition. Alex Wolff stars as Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background who is charmed by the prestigious KNA fraternity's promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. But upon beginning a romance with Annabelle (Halle Bailey), a classmate outside of his social circle, and the manipulative schemes of his fraternity president (Lewis Pullman) unfolding during the hazing of new members, Tom finds himself ensnared in a perilous game of ambition and loyalty.

Critics Consensus

By turning a chillingly clinical gaze onto the class striving and Faustian bargains of campus life, The Line hazes its audience to thrilling effect.

For all its comparative lack of insight, there’s something intriguing about the ride, due chiefly to a pair of fascinating lead performances and a fatalistic sense of humor.

Berger takes a keen anthropological approach to the rites and rituals of the fictitious Kappa Nu Alpha house, and he makes it so that you can almost smell the stale beer and crumpled Ralph Lauren.

The Line tackles huge topics on a small scale. The story feels intimate and grounded. Thanks to the writing and the incredible cast, it’s a story that’s relatable, even to those who have never been in a fraternity.

Ultimately, The Line leaves an unmistakable impression. This isn’t a film that seeks to entertain or even be appreciated in a traditional sense.

Excellent slow burn thriller. I also thought the script was very smart with just the right amount of humor dripped in at unexpected times. Worth a look, for sure.

"The Line" is a fascinating and dark peek into the psyche of a fraternity member. This movie can be tough to watch because the characters really aren't likable. However, as a character study, it does work, and I was intrigued by what would happen. When the final act of the movie kicks in, I could see what it was trying to convey, and I do think it is important. The pacing is pretty slow at first, and it becomes a bit repetitive in the middle, but it leaves an impact by the end. Overall, it is an interesting movie that has some good performances and social commentary, and I think it is worth a one-time watch.

Not good, not terrible. The acting was good, the storyline and plot were kind of slow for me. Don't really understand the overwhelmingly high reviews on this one to be honest. I would not watch this again.
