Though The Nines doesn't solidify as well as writer/director John August would hope for, Ryan Reynolds's strong performance makes each of the film's intriguing segments worth watching.

Interesting enough to not be disappointing, but lacking in good sense, rhyme, and reason. Ending felt like a reach and didn’t totally add up, lowered it a notch.

The Nines is a creative and trippy film. I found myself very invested from beginning to end. All of the performances are great in here. This is the first serious role that I've seen Ryan Reynolds in, and he absolutely nailed it. I felt like this film did a pretty good job at handling these existential themes. I do feel like the movie gets a little too trippy for it's own good, and sometimes the quirkiness didn't work for me. The ending is shocking and emotional, but some parts of the film weren't as satisfying as I would've liked. I also felt like there were some pacing issues especially in the beginning. I really liked this film, even if there was some missed potential.
