Still, it’s Nolan’s party and he can do what he wants with it. He’s succeeded in many ways—bringing a classic epic poem to life, modernizing it, but certainly not in a thoughtless way, and utilizing the full range of his prodigious cinematic toolkit.

The movie was great. The acting was good, everyone played their parts well but the first two hrs kinda dragged. The last hour is what made this movie.

I went into this movie with big expectations based on Christopher Nolan directing and the talent filled cast. It just didn’t click. I compare it to Gladiator, which I own on DVD because I knew we’d want to watch it again. That film has such resonance, but when I left the theater after The Odyssey I had no desire at all to see it again.
