Six years after their last adventure, stoner pals Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) have grown apart and found new friends. As each is busy making holiday preparations, a mysterious package mistakenly arrives on Kumar's doorstep. Unfortunately, Kumar's attempt to redirect the package to Harold goes up in smoke -- along with a prize Christmas tree belonging to Harold's father-in-law. The pair's journey across New York City to find a replacement tree threatens to blow Christmas Eve sky-high.

Critics Consensus

Still raunchy, still irreverent, and still hit-and-miss, this Harold & Kumar outing also has a Christmas miracle: The audience gets to see the sweeter side of the duo.

An extended bit featuring a strung-out toddler borders on offensive and isn't amusing in the slightest, so much of the picture leaving me as cold as an Arctic winter.

Not nearly as subversive as it purports to be, but fittingly witty and wintry nonetheless.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas's slacker posturing belies a rare comedic rigour. It takes brains to be this thick.

Better than the overly political first sequel but more labored than the carefree original, the third Harold & Kumar film won’t go down as a Christmas classic or the entry needed to revitalize this series anew.

Stupid, immature, stoner, sex comedy. Directly disrespects holy Mother Mary. I couldn't watch much of it. Blasphemous trash!

Anyone who, after watching Seth Rogen's "The Night Before," thinks, "Hmm. Well, it was a decent setup, but it was never fully realized and just kind of simmered on the sidelines," should look back four years and enjoy "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas" (in 3D!!). Personally, I think this Christmas adventure of the two goofballs has aged remarkably well. If you grew up in the 2000s and 2010s, are a fan of "New Kids" and Seth Rogen, and are looking for a wacky Christmas movie, then you should definitely check this one out. I laughed a lot, and loudly.

It’s not good but you should have known that simply from the title and concept. It is a fun type of bad though, so if you like a pointless story that might make you chuckle a few times, give it a watch.
